Good for starters Jan 06, 2011
By Justin Double Intro is limiting and can be annoying (only 8 tracks can be in a song, 12 effects, etc.) but for the price its a good deal. If you want to learn what Ableton Live has to offer its a good buy but if you have the money I vote for buying the more complete software.

It's called "Intro" for a reason Feb 08, 2012
By DJHogie6578 This software is great for the producer or songwriter that is starting out and wants a basic, easy to use DAW. It lets the user get a basic idea of how Live works, and get a sampling of some of the effects and instruments that Ableton offers. That said, this software is called intro for a reason.
Unlike the full version of Live 8, Intro has limits on tracks (although it's pretty high), number of effects you can apply (12) etc. Probably the biggest difference between this and the full version is that many of the brand new instruments/effects aren't included, like the vocoder, looper, "pro" warp mode, and others.
After demoing this alongside the full version of Live 8, I'm going to buy the full version instead.

excellent beginer daw. Apr 08, 2012
By Neil Cooper If you are just getting started, this is a great product. You are a little limited in the number of clips you can produce in live view and the number of instruments and effects you can use in one track. But for beginners this is enough to get creative. Ableton is very easy to use and there are a ton of blogs and tutorials online.
Like it says, it is an intro to music creation at a great price. The idea is that you don't have to spend $400+ on a product that you may discard if music production isn't for you. Ableton live intro is loaded with with almost all the features of ableton live 8, you can make some great proffesional sounding tracks.
As you learn more and advance you will definately notice the limitations of intro and want to upgrade to Ableton Live 8. This is great because with both your purchases you will still spend the same amount of money as jumping straight into live 8, but you would have figured out the ableton is the right software for you and already have learned a ton of cool stuff. I have spent $500+ on music software in the past that I do not use and never really got to grips with, this time I am happy to spend money upgrading this intro software to live 8.
Ableton is the easiest to use most intuitive daw on the market in my opinion.

dont waste your money Feb 24, 2012
By Danny B This is one of a few bait products by Abelton. Any version but the $600 Suite is honestly a waste of money. Can't do much with the others, just tease you with showing you what you COULD do if you upgrade. But I do need to say, altho the full program is great, their customer service is going to run this company into the ground. Yes, the email tag with a different rep every single time who has no idea what your last 5 emails were about. They take FOREVERRR to resolve an issue, IF they even get it resolved. If you're thinking of leaving Cubase, Pro Tools, hell even FL Studio.. DONT.
Great software... but extremely limited. Jan 09, 2012
By DrumDude Let me start out by saying that this product (ableton intro) is almost identical to the ableton cd you get when you buy certain controllers (novation launch pad) except this version comes with several gigabites of extra sounds n stuff. So anyway, I was working with the fruityloops demo for a while and I wanted to start getting serious about making music on my computer. It turns out that 99% of the electronic music i listened to was made with ableton and everyone was always saying ableton was better than fruity loops. Well now that I have ableton live intro I can say that ableton is extremely better than fruityloops! This intro version is great! you can do alot of things, you can make rap beats, techno songs, you can use it to DJ, you can make your own band to play along with you on guitar, bass, drums, whatever!
THE THING I DIDNT LIKE was the limitation of instruments you can have at once, although it somes with 100s of intruments you can only use 8 at once, to put that into prospective, 8 instruments is like a very simple techno song.
So ya overall this product is great... but the limitations really make you want to buy the full version of ableton live.
